The client told us they wanted something unique, “nothing like a bin website” and green. This gave our designers freedom to create something quite special which has attracted national press with the Guardian Newspaper website, ITV “30 minute makeover” and Channel 4 “How clean is your house”. If you look at London Wasps Rugby Club you will also see another example of customers Imrubbish.co.uk has attracted since the redesign.
This emphasises the importance of a modern, fresh design. This is your online shop window! The majority of people would rather walk into a new shop on the highstreet that was modern, clean and visually appealing. The exact same principle applies to website design.
The guys at Imrubbish.co.uk approached us after seeing another website we had done. They already had a decent level of visitors but felt there website was cumbersome and “just like all the other bin websites”
Design Brief
To create something that was different, eye catching and with an environmental edge which reflected the company ethos on Recycling. We decided the first step was to create the environmental aspect and went with a cardboard background and a mock recycling symbol into the logo.
We conducted user testing with groups of customers who had purchased, with those who did not purchase and those who had never visited the imrubbish.co.uk website. The results of this were that it was not initially obvious to some customers what they sold. To rectify this we built the high street price tab which also shows the excellent value of their products. To back this statement up we discussed with imrubbish.co.uk what they thought about a price promise, after initially being sceptical they said they would give it a go. This one small change increased conversions by 2.4% when coupled with a reminder of the guarantee on the checkout page.
The last change that came out of the user testing was the previous customers icon, this helped a huge amount in giving trust to the website. Not only this but we were able to secure some excellent marketing from London Wasps Rugby Club. Ice bins were supplied in exchange for an excellent photo of them in use.
